Brian 51 is a singer songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. Originally born in Mexico in the city of Lerdo, Durango, moved to Phoenix at the age of 5 along with his family to pursue a better life.
At a very young age, he developed a passion for music, which is what he describes as “the reason I’m still alive.” While living a predominately normal life, he began yearning to express himself creatively, which led him to audition for his high school’s production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the age of 16. Since then, he has been a part of over 10 stage productions, including classics like West Side Story, Little Shop of Horrors, and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He has also appeared on-stage, commercials, and a web series. While acting proved to be the first creative outlet that allowed him to express himself, Brian’s passion has always been and will always be music.
Brian 51 is a wave of new artists that bend the genres they grew up listening to in effort of creating something unique, fearless, and authentic. He is currently exploring the sound he is striving for, and hopes to experiment with sounds that reflect his deep love for music. He describes his music as being a “product of my own environment”, due to growing up in the TRL era of MTV, all while also growing up Mexican-American in south Phoenix. While his music will exist in the pop world, Brian wants to incorporate the sounds he grew up listening to, which will include alternative R&B, latin, hip-hop, and trap influences.
Apart from entertainment, Brian has deep philanthropic and humanitarian interests and believes his career needs to go hand in hand with advocating for causes he believes in. Brian is passionate about mental health, rights pertaining to the LGBT community, immigrants, women, people of color, and the youth.
